Get your free credit report

Tima.ashar asked:

A credit report is an important document today. For availing any type of loan, home mortgage, auto insurance, or credit card services, a good credit report can save on money by lowering the interest rates charged.

The U.S. states allow a free credit report to be provided to any citizen by the three major credit report agencies. A special website allows one to apply for a free credit report.

A credit report is a summary of the credit history of an individual providing details like amounts due, payment history of credit bills, etc. The credit bureaus also provide a credit score that shows in a nutshell the ranking of an individual compared to others.

Credit bureaus like Equifax provide a number of services related to credit reports, and charge customers for the same. Visiting their online sites is the best way to acquaint oneself on issues related to credit reports and credit fraud.

It is important for consumers to keep a regular check on their credit reports as the number of online and offline credit frauds increase, especially identity theft. The bureaus provide services to counter such threats as well.

A good credit report can save one valuable dollars as it can be used to bargain a lower interest rate on credit card purchases and mortgages. A bad credit history can mean a higher interest rate, and may even result in denial of credit or mortgage.

Obtaining a free copy of the credit report is therefore the first step toward keeping a check on one’s spendings and budget.

Could someone be stealing my identity?

bettyboop asked:

I just tried to get my free credit report online but all three agencies told me that “for my protection, they cannot give me my report online and I must request one through the mail.” It says I either have a Security Freeze on my credit file, an Active Duty Military or Fraud Alert, or the identification info submitted may not match the information on file. Does this mean that someone is using my identity?
I contacted Experian and they gave me another number to call and I keep getting one of those recordings that ask for your info. but I never get a real person. The number Experian gave me was to the annual credit report place.

Why is GE Money Bank credit card services at it again?

Teddybear asked:

Now they are increasing their fees. 1st it was reducing the credit limits of ON-TIME paying customers. They are raising the fees for all aspects of the credit card. A sign that, to me, that this bank is nickle & dimming and may be going under. I say, pay more then the minimum to pay off the card. Order a FREE credit report ONLY FROM ” Annual Credit Report.com”. It was created by the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Don’t be fooled by other companies who attach “FREE BUT” offers to receive your once a year report.

After you pay-off the account use it wisely. Pay the minimum balance due plus something extra. After the second to third month pay off the balance. If you must put something on credit, save up for it monthly instead of an impulse buy. If you do this you will stay with in your budget and defeat the credit card companies.

Note; they {most} credit card issuers are now requiring you to “USE” the card or else they will close your account. Don’t be fooled into making an enormous purchase to keep the credit card active.

READ THE CC AGREEMENT VERY CAREFULLY. OPT OUT TO ALL OFFERS TO RECEIVE CREDIT AT https://www.optoutprescreen.com. Hope this helps.
